Cabo San Lucas Mexico is located on the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. Together, these two entities form Los Cabos, which literally means the (two) Cabos. Los Cabos is the southernmost region of Baja California Sur. We have plenty of ideas for fun things to do on the Baja California peninsula, including Baja California in the north and Baja California Sur in the south.
Within this county, there are several cities and towns, including San Jose del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, Cabo Pulmo, and Santiago, just to name a few. That said, you have to go to the beaches located on the Pacific Ocean side of Cabo San Lucas to watch the sunset because you won't be able to see it from the beaches on the Sea of Cortez side, since Los Arcos will block your view. Family-owned restaurants and numerous boutique art galleries make San José del Cabo an idyllic stay for culture enthusiasts and those looking for a peaceful getaway in beautiful surroundings. However, there is also a smaller airport located in Cabo San Lucas, which is mainly reserved for private charter flights (Jeff Besos' plane lands here).
San José del Cabo is a quaint, old part of Los Cabos that has a huge outdoor plaza and colorful boutique shops that line narrow cobblestone streets. When looking at Cabo San Lucas versus Los Cabos, another notable difference is that you can't get around Los Cabos without a bus, taxi, or rental car. To take your Mexico vacation beyond the resort, Cabo San Lucas has easier and faster access to Cabo tours. Clubs in Cabo include Cabo Wabo Cantina, a nightclub owned by rock star Sammy Hagar, originally founded by him and other members of Van Halen, named after his hit single Cabo Wabo.
If you're looking for Mexican culture and local traditions, stay in San José del Cabo and take advantage of locally-owned establishments there. Cabo San Lucas, on the other hand, is known as a party town with plenty of resorts and bars that cater to nighttime crowds. Los Cabos International Airport is located in San José del Cabo, which is where most tourists arrive. Whether you decide to book a place in Cabo San Lucas or San José del Cabo, there is only one airport option.
