Is San Jose Del Cabo Airport The Same As Los Cabos?

Cabo San Lucas Mexico is a city within the Los Cabos region, which also includes the quieter city of San José del Cabo. It is officially called Los Cabos International Airport or Los Cabos International Airport. It's also sometimes known as San José del Cabo Airport (because that's where it's located). Confusingly, when you're at the airport, you'll likely see that it's called Cabo San Lucas on the arrival and departure boards.

Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) is located just 8 miles north of San José del Cabo and 23 miles from Cabo San Lucas. Los Cabos has 550 weekly operations, serving around 40 destinations. Within this county, there are several cities and towns, including San Jose del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, Cabo Pulmo, and Santiago, just to name a few. If you're looking for a younger group of twentysomethings, you won't find them in San Jose del Cabo.

Whether you decide to book a place in Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo, there is only one airport option. I have been living in San Jose del Cabo for several months after a month of living in Todos Santos, and I have completely fallen in love with it here. Los Cabos International Airport is located outside the city, almost 8 miles (15 minutes by car) north of downtown San José del Cabo and 31 miles from downtown Cabo San Lucas (40 minutes by car). There are two states on the Baja California peninsula, where cities such as Ensenada and Tijuana are located, and the state of Baja California Sur, where Todos Santos, La Paz and Cabo San Lucas are located.

However, there is also a smaller airport located in Cabo San Lucas, which is mainly reserved for private charter flights (Jeff Besos' plane lands here). Flights to Los Cabos arrive from many different destinations, from the U.S. The U.S. and Canada arrive from airports such as Los Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, San Francisco, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Detroit, Chicago, San Diego, Atlanta and Seattle.

It's safe to assume that you'll be flying from your closest airport to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) in San Jose del Cabo instead of Cabo San Lucas Airport (CSL). The main airport is Los Cabos Airport, and it is at this airport that most flights to Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo will arrive.
